BIOTECH BRAND IDENTITY FOR A SAN FRANCISCO STARTUP TREATING NOISE-INDUCED HEARING LOSS

Jacaranda Biosciences is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company focused on restoring hearing by developing novel therapeutics designed to re-establish cellular homeostasis and inner ear function.

Founded by leaders in academic and clinical neurology, otolaryngology, and small-molecule therapeutics, the company was formed with the ambition to address the needs of 300+ million people worldwide affected by noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL).

Biotech exploration and drug discovery is a capital-intensive process, presenting both challenge and opportunity for early-stage companies. To successfully engage research partners, institutions, and investors, Jacaranda required a biotech brand identity to position the company as a credible startup with disruptive therapeutic potential.

The brand identity blossomed through an abstract logo design inspired by the petals of a jacaranda flower, a calming lavender color palette, a distinguished typography system, and subtle sound-wave frequencies. The new brand identity played a vital role in helping Jacaranda secure funding to continue their pre-clinical research and development of life-changing therapies.
